Henry Smith MP has congratulated students from Manor Green College upon their completion of National Citizen Service, on the final day of their social action project.
The Crawley MP learned more about their work on woodland awareness with the Gatwick Greenspace Partnership, and presented participants with certificates upon the conclusion of the day’s events.
Henry said;
“I’m delighted to congratulate young people from Manor Green College for completing National Citizen Service.
“It was a special moment to be able to present the successful participants with their certificates, and to speak with them about their experiences of undertaking NCS and all the experiences they’ve had.”
The 12 young people had previously completed a four-day residential experience in Milton Keynes, taking part in activities such as rafting, canoeing and climbing, aimed at developing their skills including teamwork and leadership.
Participants also gained experience and developed skills in enterprise, community mapping, political understanding and public speaking, including activities aimed at developing their sense of self and an understanding that their voice matters.
As part of the social action project, the group undertook conservation tasks around woodland management and heathland restoration.
