Henry Smith MP has urged young people in Crawley to ensure they are registered to vote ahead of elections for Crawley Borough Council, the Sussex Police & Crime Commissioner, and the in/out referendum on the European Union.
Henry said;
“As Member of Parliament for Crawley it’s an honour to go to local schools and colleges and speak with students about the importance of engaging with our democracy. I also always look forward to welcoming local young people visiting Parliament to find out how our system works.
“It’s vital that students who are aged 18 or over on 5th May 2016 can vote for their Crawley Borough Councillor and for the Sussex Police & Crime Commissioner. You can register to vote any time from the age of 16.
“By the end of 2017 our country will decide whether or not we Leave or Remain in the European Union. I’d urge all young people in Crawley to ensure they are registered to vote.”
The National Voter Registration Drive 2016 takes place from 1st to 7th February. The deadline to vote for elections on 5th May 2016 is 18th April 2016.
