Henry Smith MP has urged local musicians to enter Rock the House 2015, a competition celebrating young British artists with a prize of performing in Parliament.
The competition has six categories: Best Band, Best Solo Act, Best Solo Act (Under 19), Best Band (Under 19), Best Music Video, and the People’s Choice Award.
Henry said;
“I am delighted to ask Crawley’s young people to once again take part in Rock the House, and its sister competition, Film the House.
“Among the many prizes on offer include a once in a lifetime opportunity to perform on the House of Commons Terrace, as well as music equipment and masterclasses from professionals.
“I look forward to listening to what Crawley has to offer!”
Henry will nominate his favourite from each category, after which a judging panel will select a shortlist of entrants from the nominations by MPs in each section. The closing date for entries is 31st December 2014.
In the case of bands and solo artists, this will include a live finals show on 18th March 2015, from which one winning band and one winning solo artist will be selected.
The under 19, venue, and music video categories will be judged separately. The under 19 categories may also have a ‘battle of the bands’ style show at a date to be decided.
Prizes include music equipment; master-classes from industry specialists; performance slots at music festivals; and a once in a lifetime opportunity to perform on the House of Commons Terrace.
