Henry Smith MP has given his backing to the town’s newly-established Kicks project, which is being run by the Crawley Town FC Community Sports Foundation.
Henry said;
“I am grateful to the Crawley Town FC Community Sports Foundation for inviting me along to see the great work they are doing for the area with the Kicks project.
“Birtug Kazim, who helped launch the project nationally almost a decade ago, has brought his expertise to Crawley Town, and his work for our community is there for all to see.
“The Crawley Town Supporters Alliance’s Community Initiative for this season is the CSF, and I am grateful to Carol Bates, Mat Cowdrey, Joe Comper, and everyone else at the CTSA for all they’re doing not only for the CTSA, but for the community as a whole.”
Birtug Kazim, Manager of the Crawley Town FC Community Sports Foundation, commented;
“We were delighted to welcome Henry Smith MP and former fans’ favourite Sergio Torres to Kicks on a bitterly cold Friday night. We’d like to thank the CTSA for their continued support this season and contribution to our community work and to initiatives in and around Crawley. The fact that Bewbush Kicks is in the heart of Crawley really demonstrates the impact we are making together for a better Crawley, and in this case for a better future for young people.
“It’s this very support both locally and nationally that enables us to help provide social change through the power of football and by using the football club’s brand. Our contribution to community safety through Kicks, as well as our work in themes like health and wellbeing, inclusion, education and enterprise, volunteering, training and employment, and regeneration can only be achieved by having a network of partners and people who really care. Crawley Town Community Foundation would like to thank our partners in making this happen.”
Carol Bates, Chair of the Crawley Town Supporters Alliance, commented;
“It was a pleasure to be able to present Birtug Kazim with a cheque for £1,000, which is just the start of the CTSA's fundraising to help this great project for local people.”
Henry added;
“I was star-struck to meet Sergio and awe-struck to see the Crawley Town Community Sports Foundation and Crawley Town Supporter Alliance Kicks project in action to engage local young people in football.”
