Henry Smith MP has continued his support for the RSPB by backing the Vote for Bob campaign at an event in Westminster.
Henry said;
“I was delighted to attend the RSPB’s Back Bob event, and it was great to meet so many wildlife conservation supporters.
"I know that enhancing and protection our environment is rightly important to many in Crawley, whether that be special places like Tilgate Park, the wildlife that visits our back gardens or the beautiful West Sussex countryside on our doorstep. The Vote for Bob campaign is an important reminder that those involved in public policy mustn't forget the importance of conservation."
The Vote for Bob campaign is raising awareness of disappearing wildlife, such as the fact that the number of hedgehogs has halved in the past 25 years. The initiative also highlights the decline in natural habitats, which has an adverse effect on bees and many insects.
The campaign’s mascot is Bob, a red squirrel, who is encouraging people to stand up for nature, and is also asking Members of Parliament to give their support. Over 100,000 people have signed up to Back Bob. The campaign also has the support of 40 MPs, and uses social media to encourage engagement and to spread the word.
Henry continued;
“Animal welfare is an important concern for me, and I will continue to campaign for improved treatment of animals throughout our country, in this respect and others.
“And it was nice to finally meet Bob himself!”
