Henry Smith MP has welcomed figures showing Crawley youth unemployment has fallen to 2 per cent (source: ONS September 2014). The latest information from the Office for National Statistics shows that the figure has decreased by well over a third in the last year.
Henry said;
“I am pleased to see that youth unemployment in our town is going down even further, and now stands at 2 per cent. This represents a fall of more than three quarters since the last Labour government.
“I am personally committed to reducing unemployment in our town, which is why I have organised Crawley Jobs Fairs in each of the last two years.
“Of course, having been unemployed myself, I know that the figures seem irrelevant if you are looking for work – I know that it is 100 per cent of a problem.
“Nationally, I am pleased to see unemployment fall to below 2 million, following the biggest fall in people looking for work since records began. Policies such as the Employment Allowance are helping firms in Crawley and beyond to take on more staff and provide training for more and more people.”
