New Attractions and Investment for Tilgate Park
Tilgate Park, Crawley’s premier green space, is gaining exciting new attractions and new investment.
Green Flag-winning Tilgate Park is owned by Crawley Borough Council and is to offer an even wider leisure experience. New attractions include a treetop adventure course, subject to planning permission, in an area of under-used woodland. Tilgate Lake will offer water-based activities such as sailing and windsurfing.
The Nature Centre will be improved, with some new animals and attractions. A small charge will be introduced for this one area from April through to October, with concessions for various groups. There will be direct Council investment of more than £500,000 to improve the Nature Centre, parking and toilet facilities.
The Council has also worked hard to attract a new venture to the former Bluebird Pub. These efforts have been successful and we look forward to the new Smith and Western family restaurant opening in the spring.
Councillor Lenny Walker, Cabinet Member for Leisure and Cultural Services, comments, “We are introducing new leisure activities and making new investment based on customer feedback. In doing so, we have been determined to maintain the feel of Tilgate Park, with plenty of space available for quiet enjoyment of this special environment.”
