Recently released figures from an annual economic report by Duport.co.uk show that, during the first quarter of this year, new business formations in Crawley are up by 183 whilst company closures have continued to fall.
Commenting, Henry said:
“I was delighted by recent confirmation from the independent Office for National Statistics that showed unemployment in Crawley halving to 2 percent which is as a direct result of this Government’s efforts to foster an economic climate that encourages businesses to grow and take on more staff.
“To demonstrate this very point, the latest annual Duport Business Confidence Report has found that there were almost 200 new businesses registered in Crawley during the first quarter of this year – a record high in our town’s history and a 5 percent rise on the same period last year.
“In addition, I particularly welcome the news that company closures have also further reduced by 5 percent, ensuring an overall increase in net company growth.
“Thanks to this Government’s efforts to: reduce corporation tax to the lowest in the G7; slash Labour’s red tape costing businesses some £3.3 billion; promote investment in firms; extend the small business rate holiday; axe Labour’s planned Employer National Insurance tax rise; improve access to funding; and to cut the national insurance bill of every business by £2,000 per year – more local Crawley small and medium sized enterprises have launched, expanded and flourished.”
Managing Director of Duport.co.uk, Peter Valaitis, said:
“The data we have gathered for Crawley sheds light on some positive trends in the area. More company formation suggests entrepreneurial spirit is alive and well, which can only be a good thing for a local economy.
