Henry Smith MP has welcomed the news that the Crawley youth unemployment rate has fallen further to 1.6 per cent, while the number of young people out of work remains at its lowest level since comparable records began in October 2004.
The unemployment rate across all ages for December 2014 according to the Office of National Statistics is at 1.6 per cent, while the number of people out of work has fallen for the ninth month out of the last ten.
Henry said;
“The lowest youth unemployment ever is a considerable achievement for those businesses that drive the Crawley economy aided by policies I've supported for our town in Parliament like the Employment Support Allowance and Start-Up Loans.
“I continue to work with organisations such as Youth Employment UK to try and help young people get the opportunities to find work. This is just one of many reasons why I organised the Crawley Jobs Fairs.
“Across the country, employment is up 512,000 on this time last year, working out at 1,400 jobs every single day – and up by 1.75 million since 2010.”
