Henry Smith MP has hailed the latest figures showing that businesses are benefiting from the Employment Allowance. The Allowance, which was introduced in April, takes off up to £2,000 from the National Insurance bill of every employer.
109,000 employers have already been helped in the South East alone. In total, up to 1.25 million employers will benefit from the allowance, with 450,000 taken out of paying the tax on jobs altogether.
Henry said;
"I am delighted to see the figures showing that this Government is actively helping business. The Employment Allowance means a firm can hire someone on £22,400 a year, or four people working full-time on the minimum wage, without paying any employer national insurance at all.
“Following the recent release of figures showing that unemployment in Crawley has fallen to a six-year low, as well as a record high number of new businesses being registered in our town, it is encouraging to see businesses being helped by Conservative policies in Government.
“Additionally, I have spoken to small business owners who have told me the impact that cutting the tax on jobs has had.”
Local businessman, Martin Stone, added;
“We are benefitting from this. It is a great help as I do employ many 18-20 year olds and it means I can train more young people.”
Henry continued;
“While these figures are of use if you are business owner or in work, I know that not everyone is in this position. Having been unemployed myself, I know how worrying times can be when you’re looking for a job.
“This is why I organised my second Crawley Jobs Fair recently, which was attended by around 700 jobseekers and a whole host of employers and exhibitors.
“If I can help any resident or business in Crawley, please never hesitate to contact me, either by calling my office on 01293 934554, writing to me at the House of Commons, London, SW1A 0AA, or by emailing my office directly at [email protected]”
