Ahead of a meeting with the Crawley Community & Voluntary Service (CVS) to discuss future fundraising opportunities, Henry Smith MP has given his backing to the Big Lottery Fund’s Awards for All programme.
The programme has seen over £1 million in funding awarded to Crawley groups since April 2012.
Henry said;
“I am looking forward to meeting with the Crawley Community & Voluntary Service and representatives from the Big Lottery Fund at the CCVS AGM next week, in order to hear the ways in which local groups across the town can look to benefit from the funding opportunities.
“Crawley charities have received total of more than £1.05 million since April 2012, so I would urge local groups to look into applying for funding from the Big Lottery Fund’s Awards for All scheme.”
The BLF works with groups applying for Lottery grants of between £300 and £10,000. A variety of organisations have benefited, ranging from the 2ndIfield Scout Group, to the Maidenbower Park Community Club, as well as a number of individuals regarding the Heroes Return initiative.
Henry continued;
“For every National Lottery ticket sold, 28 pence goes to good causes – which works out at £25 million a week.
“I would like to stress that applying for Lottery funding is not a daunting process. The BLF are on hand to provide help and support, and in some cases, the grants available are relatively small, but can still make a great deal of difference.”
