In 2012, Crawley is set to see work start on the first phase of Town Centre North. A planning application has been approved for the re-development of the former Sussex House site at the western end of The Boulevard. The development will include a major new supermarket, a hotel, restaurant outlets and a multi-storey car park. Some 350 jobs will be created during the construction phase and a further 400 jobs sustained when the project is completed.
This is great news in difficult times and a real vote of confidence in Crawley. It vindicates the decision of your Conservative Council to change its strategy on Town Centre North, to adopt a phased approach, instead of 'Big Bang'. We will now work to secure further development phases to advance Crawley's prosperity.
