Dr Brian May, the Queen guitarist and animal welfare campaigner, has given his backing for Henry Smith to be re-elected as Member of Parliament for Crawley at the general election on 7th May.
Brian said;
“I have developed a great respect for Henry Smith, working with him for the last 5 years on the badger cull campaign, of which he has been a strong supporter.
“Henry has been very active and effective promoting animal welfare issues in Parliament – a man of conscience, conviction and courage.
“In our Common Decency campaign we have named Henry as one of our special honourees, and we will be supporting him for re-election in May 2015.”
Henry said;
“It has been a sincere pleasure to work with Brian since being elected to Parliament in 2010 on campaigns such as against the badger cull. My commitment to better treatments for animals is unwavering – this is an issue very close to my heart.
“If I am honoured by being re-elected as Member of Parliament for Crawley, I will continue to campaign for further improvements to animal welfare.
“The responses to my recent Parliamentary debate on CCTV in slaughterhouses really did highlight the strength of feeling across our town on matters relating to animal protection.”
